The Book of Eli is a post-apocalyptic action drama in which a man named Eli, 30 years after apocalyptic war journeys to the west coast of the United States. The war destroyed almost everything and turned the earth into a total wasteland. People are forced to kill or be killed; gangs rob and kill for water, pair of shoes or just for fun. Eli is a peaceful man who only acts out of self-defense and becomes warrior by necessity. He carries a large, leather-bound book, which he has to protect and take to its final destination. Carnegie, a self-appointed despot and dictator is the only man who understands and appreciates the power that Eli holds. He wants the book for himself. However, Eli guards it with his life because he knows that the book is the last hope the humanity has for its future.
